Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Kagan Professional Development Group, Who Will Provide Cooperative Learning Training for Teachers in Title I Schools (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

Kagan Professional Development Group will provide an advanced workshop on Cooperative Learning. This one-day training is part two of the Structures of Cooperative Learning workshop. Participants will learn easy ways to use Kagan structures as a part of every lesson, creating greater engagement, deeper understanding of the content, improved retention, and greater liking for class and content. Participants will master the Six Keys to Cooperative Learning, including Team Formation, Building Will, Management Techniques, Embedded Social Skills, and Structures. This training is designed for teachers in Title I schools (Charter Schools included) that have taken the Kagan Cooperative Learning Workshop: Day One.

Goal 5- The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

The total amount of $11,900 will be paid using Title I funds.

Anticipated: By October 30, 2006, all participants will complete an opinionnaire designed to measure the quality of the training provided by Kagan Professional Development Group. By May 23, 2007, all participants will be asked to complete an effectiveness survey to determine if the professional development provided by Kagan Professional Development Group had a positive impact on student learning and the culture of the teacher's classroom.
