The Rembrandt Apartments across from Robinson High School were demolished and the property is to be deeded to the Hillsborough County School Board in exchange for nearby School Board property that was used to expand the new Gardens at SouthBay Community.

On September 18, 2006, the Housing Authority of the City of Tampa Board of Commissioners dedicated this center's library and computer lab to Carol Kurdell, Hillsborough County School Board Member, in recognition of her leadership role in facilitating the partnership between the School Board and the Housing Authority of the City of Tampa. This partnership resulted in the above-mentioned land swap making possible the development of Gardens at SouthBay.
