Cancel the Contract Between Hillsborough County Public Schools – School Readiness Programs and A Brighter Future Child Care Facility, Effective November 9, 2006 (Student Services & Federal Programs Division)

The contract with A Brighter Future for the provision of child care and early education services for children of income eligible families is to be cancelled in response to notification by the owner that said facility was sold effective October 4, 2006. The term of said contract is July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007. Contracts between providers and the School Readiness Programs are not transferable to new owners.

Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

The total funding of $349,600 was to be used to provide education and care for approximately 92 eligible children of low-income families at the annual rate of $3,800 per child. The federal/state grant funds are channeled to the District from the Florida Office of Early Learning and the Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition d/b/a Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County. Due to the facility being sold and thereby effectuating cancellation of the contract, the remaining funding of $318,450.32 will be made available to other providers assuming the care of children enrolled at A Brighter Future at the time of the sale.

No evaluation will be conducted due to this action being a contract cancellation.
