KITCHEN RENOVATION
APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 - $12,553.46 EXTRA

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On June 1, 2004, the Student Nutrition Services Department received the final report of the Hinson & Associates Kitchen Assessment Report 2004. This district-wide assessment identified the current Kitchen and Student Servery at Plant High School as outdated and in poor condition. GLE Associates, Inc. and Horus Construction Services, Inc. were selected from the approved Continuing Services list to renovate the existing cafeteria kitchen and servicing area thereby enabling students to be served quickly and efficiently. The renovated facility is within the existing walls and roof. The scope of work includes removal of all non-load bearing interior walls, removal and replacement of existing concrete slab and all floor finishes, and removal of existing wall finishes and replacement with new ceramic tile. The resulting open space is reconfigured to include food preparation area, Kitchen Manager’s Office, staff toilets and locker areas, dry storage, etc. Also included is the exhaust hood, student serving line, existing windows, doors and frames.

This change order provides for kitchen hood omitted from contractor's bid, freezer lights that were incorrect in bid, fire extinguishers, water heater breakers, and re-working of freezer wiring incorrect in bid due to design, quarry tile, additional roofing work, and trap primers as directed by the District, and marble threshold, hood supply duct, carpentry, removal of pipes under cooler, garbage disposals, and relocation of receptacles which were unforeseen conditions.
