Approve Adoption of Recommended Titles as Flexibility Instructional Materials for ELEMENTARY LANGUAGE ARTS/READING Programs (Elementary Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The process for selection of flexibility instructional materials for the District's Elementary Language Arts/Reading Programs has been completed. The recommended titles are shown on the attached memorandum from Marilyn Blackmer, Supervisor, Elementary Curriculum. A FLEX textbook committee studied and recommended the instructional materials according to district guidelines (Policy 4.16) which include:
- District FLEX textbook selection committee is trained in the instructional materials evaluation process.
- The FLEX Committee reviews and evaluates submissions using the Florida Department of Education instructional materials evaluation packet.
- The FLEX Committee through a consensus vote recommends instructional materials to be placed on the FLEX list for purchase.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Goal 1 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
These items may be purchased using categorical textbook funds included in the general operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction.
