Approve Contract With I Can! Community Education Coalition, Inc. (Administration Division)

I Can! Community Education Coalition, Inc. provides I Can Succeed, an intensive learning center designed to remediate the academic deficiencies of students who are at risk of not receiving a high school diploma. The program is designed to meet the needs of students who have the following characteristics: at least fifteen years old; have been retained at least once; are functioning two or more grade levels below their current grade level in reading and/or math; have scored below level 3 on the FCAT in reading and/or math; or have dropped out of high school.

Students who are enrolled in the I Can Succeed Center will receive instruction in the core academic subjects in order to raise their functioning levels in reading and math to the ninth grade level or higher. In addition, students will be prepared for the FCAT and/or the GED test. Successful students will transition to a career center or the Adult Education program to obtain a State of Florida and/or District high school diploma. I Can! Community Education Coalition, Inc. will provide the facility and all of the personnel for the educational program, with support and oversight from the District’s Alternative Education program.

The cost of this contract is $295,767.50. This amount is calculated using the projected FTE generated revenue minus a ten percent administrative fee used to fund oversight and support services provided by the District.
