EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The name change of the K-12 Foreign Languages Department to the K-12 World Languages Department would reflect the diversity of the national population as well as our district school population. This change in name allows our district to be aligned with other Florida districts, including Broward, Dade, and Orange, that have implemented the name change. In addition, many postsecondary institutions have adopted the name change. The state Department of Education is in the process of a name change to World Languages and estimates the change within a year.
The name of our foreign languages programs as the K-12 World Languages Department demonstrates our district foreign languages department as proactive, diverse, and all-inclusive.
