Approve the Naming and Dedication of the Pinecrest Elementary School Media Center in Honor of Martha Foster Hood

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The staff, community members, and students of Pinecrest Elementary School have requested that the media center be named and dedicated in honor of Martha Foster Hood. Mrs. Hood attended Pinecrest School in grades one through twelve and returned to her alma mater as a teacher, curriculum intervention specialist and principal, serving the district for 33 years at Pinecrest Elementary School. She influenced and enriched the lives of many students and families in the Pinecrest community and is admired and respected for her dynamic leadership, her innovative approach to student learning, her talent to inspire and motivate others and her ability to hire the best, expect the most, and get the desired results. As an instructional leader, Mrs. Hood met challenges with enthusiasm, optimism and determination.

Other: this is in accordance with Policy 8.27 (Procedure Summary) which governs that school sites and facilities shall be named for individuals who have rendered outstanding public service to public education, for geographical locations and for groups and clubs as indicated. Elementary, middle and secondary schools – for presidents, school board members, educators, outstanding citizens and geographical locations.

There is no cost to the school district.
