SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Various Articulation Agreements with Hillsborough Community College for Related Secondary and Postsecondary Programs (Career and Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Four Articulation Agreements with Hillsborough Community College (HCC) have been updated that allow high school students and adult technical center students to be awarded college credit for completed career/technical programs.

For the past fifteen years, the School District and HCC have worked collaboratively in implementing the Tech Prep Programs of Study/Career Majors districtwide and collegewide. One major component has been the establishment of articulation agreements allowing district secondary and postsecondary students the opportunity to enter degree-seeking programs at the community college in an advanced status.

Agreements have been updated to allow secondary students to be awarded college credit for completed high school programs:

  • Early Childhood Education Program students can earn 9 credits toward and Associate in Science degree in Early Childhood Management Program
  • Business Supervision and Management students can earn 3 credits toward an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration.

Agreements have been updated to allow postsecondary students to be awarded college credit for completed technical programs:

  • Learey Technical Center’s Child Care Provider students can earn 9 credits toward an Associate in Science degree in the Child Care Center Management Program
  • Brewster Technical Center’s Early Childhood Education students can earn 9 credits toward an Associate in Science degree in the Early Childhood Management Program.
