On September 7, 2004, the Board approved the appointment of The Rosier Alliance and JBD Construction, Inc. to provide design and construction management services for renovations at DeSoto Elementary School. On March 14, 2006, the Board approved the reassignment of the contract to RHC, Inc. due to the withdrawal of The Rosier Alliance from the project. RHC, Inc., a continuing services mechanical engineer, worked as a consultant to The Rosier Alliance on this project and is assuming the role of lead consultant. Atelier AEC has been contracted to handle the architectural components of the project. The scope of work provides for the renovation of gang toilets for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility, upgrading of fire alarm and security systems, restoration of wood floors in old classrooms, telephone system replacement, and door hardware replacement for ADA accessibility. Mechanical work includes replacement of four classroom air conditioning units, main electrical switch gear, and electrical panels. Exterior work includes painting, dumpster enclosure relocation, correction of site grading issues, and the addition of perimeter security fencing and gates, bus drop-off canopy, and ramps to provide ADA accessibilty.

Approval of the guaranteed price will provide a maximum cost for the facility. Project completion is scheduled for July 30, 2007.

Construction cost is warranted at $1,617,409. The project is currently funded at $1,700,000. This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: Qualified Zone Academy Bonds and 2 Mill.
