SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approval of Spot Surveys for Tinker Elementary and Classroom Additions at Various Schools

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Florida Statute 1013.31 requires that each School Board conduct an educational plant survey at least every five years. The Board approved the District's current survey on May 4, 2004. The survey recommends new facilities as well as additions, remodeling, and renovations at existing sites.

As exceptions to the survey recommendations arise, the Board is required to submit a "spot survey" to the Department of Education for each facility. A spot survey is now required for Tinker Elementary to delete buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 and construct replacement buildings for administration, media, and classrooms. In addition, spot surveys are required for twelve classroom additions at various schools. A list of school additions is provided on Attachment I. Adjustments to previously approved surveys are also listed on the attachment.
