Approve GED Testing Test Center Location Request and L-25 Request for Transportation Addendum to Annual Contract with the General Educational Development (GED) Testing Services of the American Council on Education (Adult and Community Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On August 8, 2006, the School Board Approved the GED Annual Contract for January 1, 2007, through December 31, 2007, to provide the General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program in Hillsborough County to those adults who wish to establish the credentials of a high school diploma.

This addendum to the contract authorizes our District to add Simmons Career Center, located in Plant City, as an additional testing site and authorization to transport GED Tests to this site. All appropriate testing security measures are strictly enforced to ensure the integrity of testing administration so that the District may continue to serve career center students and adults through GED testing services. The locations are established to provide the most convenient and suitable test sites.

During the 2005/2006 school year, 3,972 individuals took the GED Test; 2,190 passed all sections of the test and were awarded a State of Florida High School Diploma. The GED Test will continue to be administered at the following locations: Brewster Technical Center, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department (various jail sites), East Bay High School, Learey Technical Center, Plant City High School, Gaither High School, South County Career Center, and the University of South Florida.
