Approve Adoption of Recommended Titles as Flexibility Instructional Materials for COSMETOLOGY Program (Career and Technical Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The process for selection of flexibility instructional materials for the District's COSMETOLOGY Program has been completed. The recommended titles are shown on the attached memorandum from Cosette G. Whitmore, Ph.D., Supervisor, Health Science and Public Service Education. The recommended titles will be the primary textbooks. A FLEX textbook committee studied and recommended the instructional materials according to district guidelines (Policy 4.16) which include:
- District FLEX textbook selection committee is trained in the instructional materials evaluation process.
- The FLEX Committee reviews and evaluates submissions using the Florida Department of Education instructional materials evaluation packet.
- The FLEX Committee through a consensus vote recommends instructional materials to be placed on the FLEX list for purchase.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Goal 1 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
These items may be purchased using categorical textbook funds included in the general operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction. The estimated cost of the primary textbooks for the Cosmetology Program is $157,404.25.
