The matching funds program was established in 2001-02 by the Superintendent to assist schools and their partners in raising funds for school improvements by matching dollars in any amount up to $50,000. On January 22, 2004, a committee composed of representatives from the County Council PTA, elementary, middle and high school principals, students, teachers, and the Facilities Division met to review the procedures approved by the Board on October 15, 2002. Revisions to program procedures were recommended and approved by the Board on March 9, 2004, and were effective for the 2004-05 fiscal year. (Criteria - Attached)

District matching funds are requested for completion of the project budgets at Burney Elementary School for the purchase of Waterford software and computers for the Kindergarten classrooms, Northwest Elementary School for construction of a covered court, and Lopez Elementary School for the upgrade of the TV studio to District standards and upgrade of classroom visual presentation equipment.

Total project expenditures are $45,000 ($16,250 District's contribution, $28,750 School's contribution) for Burney Elementary, $50,000 ($25,000 District's contribution, $25,000 school's contribution) for Lopez Elementary and $163,000 ($50,000 District's contribution, $113,000 school's contribution) for Northwest Elementary. Expenditures are funded as follows: a minimum contribution of 50% of the project cost from the school and the balance from 2 Mill matching funds, not to exceed $50,000. The balance of matching funds remaining for use in 2006-07 is $222,151.
