EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The new Instructional Services Center (ISC) is a replacement facility for an earlier facility which was functionally obsolete. The new facility, like most modern office buildings, must adapt to the changing needs of current and future tenants. This flexibility will be achieved by using furnishings and semi-permanent "demising" walls to define tenant spaces.
The initial tenants include Student Nutritional Services, Student Records, Media Services, Internal Communications, and Staff Development. The facility will also provide offices for the Center for Technology and Education. The conference, meeting, and training spaces will be shared by all tenants. The collocation of the Center for Technology and Education with the Office of Staff Development in close proximity with Media Services, especially the broadcast studio, is expected to be very beneficial to the District.
To provide functional spaces for the tenants, the interiors must be carefully planned. Because of its long standing relationship with the Center for Technology and Education, The Architectural Practice, Inc. performed initial planning services under the terms of its existing Continuing Services agreement with the District. To insure consistency and continuity in the work that remains, we recommend that The Architectural Practice, Inc. be authorized to complete the design of the tenant spaces and prepare the necessary bidding documents.
