Approve Agreements for Technical Services for Consultants for Mathematics Train-the-Trainers Workshops for “Math Matters and Digital Math” - $25,040.66 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

The Mathematics Train-the-Trainer Workshops for "Math Matters and Digital Math" will be provided in collaboration with the University of South Florida (USF). Training will be conducted May 29 through June 29, 2007, at Folsom Elementary School, Burnett Middle School, and USF. Teams comprised of personnel from the district and USF will design and deliver training to approximately 1,000 district K-12 mathematics teachers. This high-quality staff development is designed to enhance teacher understanding of mathematics concepts that will support classroom instruction in the revised Mathematics Sunshine State Standards.

Agreements for Technical Services have been prepared for the attached list of trainers. These trainers will be responsible for providing the training to mathematics teachers at their individual school sites.

Goal 2 – The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT mathematics will increase a minimum of five percentage points.

Funds of $25,040.66 are included in the district special revenue/federal programs budget through the Mathematics and Science Partnership Grant, Project 1150.

Evaluation of this component will be included in the overall Mathematics and Science Partnership Grant evaluation.
