Establish an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) Assistant Position (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
As a result of the impact bargaining between the district and the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association, the attached Memorandum of Understanding has been executed by both parties. Beginning with the 2007/2008 school year, an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) Assistant position will be established for the purpose of assisting Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teachers in their case management responsibilities and classroom coverage as needed during IEP meetings and planning sessions.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Funds of approximately $1,5 million to $2.5 million annually, depending upon the experience level of employees hired into the position, including benefits, are included in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) budget, Project 1331.
EVALUATION
Follow-up surveys and/or focus groups will be conducted with ESE teachers, Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association, and other stakeholders in an effort to gather input as to the effectiveness of this position. Expected outcomes for the addition of this position is to increase teacher and student instructional time.
