SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Agreement for Technical Services with National Middle School Association to Provide Training for Middle School Team Leaders - $8,600 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Middle School Team Leaders provide leadership toward evaluation of curriculum delivery methods, enhancing effectiveness, and improving student achievement.
We are requesting approval of the Agreement for Technical Services with the National Middle School Association to provide a 2-day workshop for Team Leaders of all 44 middle schools. The workshop will be held June 4-5, 2007, at Aparicio-Levy Technical Center. Training includes the following:

Identify factors that will assist Team Leaders with determining what programs are working and what areas need improvement.

Provide strategies to Team Leaders for improving teacher effectiveness and student achievement.

Reinforce the importance of teaming and provide schools with long-term professional development opportunities.

Funds of $8,600 are available in the divisional general operating budget for staff development, Project 4502.
EVALUATION
June 2008 - The leadership team at each middle school will review the following information to determine overall effectiveness of the training: teacher professional development participation, student test data, and school climate surveys. The evaluation will be shared with all stakeholders.
