EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The first work day for 10-month instructional personnel will be Friday, August 10, 2007, with the first payday one week later on Friday, August 17th for a 1-day pay period. Normal biweekly equalized 9-day payments will start on August 31st. As a result of the change in the student year from 184 to 182 days, the contract year for 10-month teachers has changed from 201 to 199 days. Other job classifications impacted by the reduction of student days include guidance counselors, social workers, psychologists, DEES attendants, bus drivers, riders, various student nutrition services positions, assistant teachers and more.
Implementation of a best business practice will impact 12 month employees at the end of the 2007-2008 fiscal year and provide for the continuity of biweekly payments. Instead of scheduling less than normal payments due to the June 30th year-end, 12-month employees will continue to be paid on a biweekly frequency. Many of the days worked in June 2008 will be paid in July 2008.
