Cancel Contract with School Readiness Programs and Westshore Alliance Partnership School, Effective June 1, 2007 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

The contract with Westshore Alliance Partnership School was approved on June 6, 2006, Agenda Item E5.21, for the provision of child care and early education services for children of income eligible families. This contract is being cancelled in response to notification by the owner that the facility is to be closed effective May 24, 2007. The term of the contract was July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007.

Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

The total funding of $454,100 was to be used to provide early education and care for approximately 43 eligible school age children and 98 preschool children of low income families at the annual rate of $1,900 and $3,800 per child respectively. The federal/state grant funds are channeled to the district from the Florida Office of Early Learning and the Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition d/b/a Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County. Due to the facility being closed and thereby effectuating cancellation of the contract, the remaining funding of $412,677 will be made available to other providers assuming the care of children enrolled at the time of the closure of Westshore Alliance Partnership School.

No evaluation will be conducted due to this action being a contract cancellation.
