Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Performance Learning Systems, Inc. for Professional Development Training and Support for Career and Technical Supervisory Staff - $3,500 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

We are requesting approval of an Agreement for Technical Services with Performance Learning Systems, Inc. to conduct a coaching session on student achievement focused leadership strategies on June 8, 2007, to Career and Technical Education Supervisory Staff.

Student achievement requires teachers to be led and supported by a strong supervisory team. This project is designed to create a focused and visionary leadership team. Stephen Barkley will serve as a trainer, facilitator, and coach to the supervisory team during the training day and provide feedback and support via email throughout the year. Supervisory staff will identify areas of concern for the future success of career and technical programs that support occupational completion points, industry certifications, career academies, and overall Career and Technical Education student achievement.

Funds of $3,500 are available in the district special revenue/federal programs budget from the Perkins Secondary Federal Grant, Project 4502.

During the October Professional Study Day, supervisory staff will provide teachers with an effectiveness survey to determine the level of improved teacher assistance provided by supervisory staff. In addition, supervisory staff will monitor the enrollment and completions of Career and Technical Education programs.
