EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This high-quality professional development is designed to enhance teacher understanding of the reading process, the essential elements of reading and the use of best practices in the classroom. These trainings will impact approximately 1,500 classroom teachers. Trainings will be conducted at Corr, Mabry and Mort Elementary Schools from June 11-29, 2007. Each of the 53 K-5 courses will be focused on scientifically-based reading research and the essential elements of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
