SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Pursuant to the conditions of zoning for High School "SSS" (SCH 06-0830 PROPOSED HIGH SCHOOL SITE), dated May 18, 2006, the district is required to construct a traffic signal at the entrance of High School "SSS". Hillsborough County Public Works Department is requiring that the School District contribute additional funding for the construction of right and left turn lanes at the intersection of the planned school entrance and Lutz Lake Fern Road (See Attachment). Based on an estimate provided by Hillsborough County, the School District’s contribution would either be $806,000 or 29 percent of the total cost of the intersection improvement, whichever is less. The proposed turn lanes would be located contiguous to School Board-owned property and in compliance with State statutes governing the construction of off-site infrastructure for schools. In order to facilitate safe ingress and egress into the campus and to ensure that needed intersection improvements are constructed in time for the opening of the school.
