We are requesting approval to adopt the recommended state-adopted instructional materials selected for 6-12 Visual Arts Education. The instructional materials shown on the attached memorandum from Phyllis Alexandroff, Supervisor, Visual Arts, were reviewed according to District Guidelines (Policy 4.16) which include:

• District textbook selection committee is trained and reviews sample materials submitted.
• Committee evaluates submissions using the Florida Department of Education instructional materials evaluation packet.
• Committee rank orders all submissions evaluated.
• Committee recommends two choices per subject for teacher use by using the same evaluation form provided by the state and also used in the state’s textbook adoption process. In the event that two choices are not available, teachers will use the one submission being recommended by district committee.
• An official ballot is prepared and distributed to all teachers using sample sets of instructional materials selected for possible adoption.
• Teachers vote for their top choice and send sealed ballots in pre-labeled envelope to the Supervisor of Instructional Materials.
