SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Waiver of Policy 12-4b, "Handling and Receipting of Athletic Money", Athletic Guidebook of Procedures, for One Home Football Game at Each Senior High School (Athletics Department)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

It is recommended that the School Board approve a waiver to Policy 12-4b to provide the opportunity for each high school to designate one home football game as a fund raising incentive. This provides an increased incentive for the school to actively promote attendance at the designated game.

The Athletic Guidebook of Procedures Policy 12-4b states "All revenue, fees, and/or guarantees received as a result of Athletic programs will be credited to the School Board of Hillsborough County general fund."

In 2005, the School Board afforded two high schools, Middleton and Blake, the opportunity to retain profits as incentive funds from one football game.

If this waiver is approved, one dollar from each ticket sold for the designated game will be placed in the home school's incentive account to be spent on their athletic program. All purchases from these incentive funds must be approved by the Director of Athletics.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

All game expenses must be paid before incentive funds will be issued. If the designated game produces a profit, then $1 for each ticket sold will be placed in the home school's incentive account. Incentive funds will not be issued for games that do not show a profit sufficient to cover all expenses.
