Approve Contract with Easter Seals Florida, Inc. for Teen Parent Child Care Services (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Easter Seals Florida, Inc. provider will deliver child care services for student participants in the Teen Parent Programs at Burney Simmons Career Center and D.W. Waters Career Center by staffing and maintaining a child care facility at each site. This contract begins August 1, 2007, and continues through June 30, 2008.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Goal 5 - The District will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The total of $250,000 ($4,830 – average annual cost per child at a Gold Seal accredited site), which is 100% of the funding, comes from the Florida Department of Education and is expended for child care. Approximately 52 infants and toddlers whose mothers participate in the Alternative Education Teen Parent Program are provided child care services. The monthly payments are based on student attendance and the daily rate.
EVALUATION
This office will conduct a year-end monitoring by June 15, 2008, and report its findings to the Board by September 1, 2008.
