SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Hold Harmless Agreement for Training Site for Brewster Technical Center Adult Students with Disabilities, 2007/2008 – MACY’S, UNIVERSITY MALL (Adult Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of the Hold Harmless Agreement with MACY’S, University Mall, to provide a job training site for adults with disabilities students enrolled at Brewster Technical Center. Brewster Technical Center provides educational services targeted to the assessed needs of adult trainees recommended by various agencies within the parameters of approved district curricula through adult individual education plans.

On May 8, 2007, the School Board approved Hold Harmless Agreements with Macy’s at West Shore Plaza, Westfield Shopping Towns of Citrus Park and Brandon; MacDonald Training Center, Inc.; and Hillsborough Association for Retarded Citizens. Collaboration between the School District and these partners provides employability training and support on the job site. With self-sufficiency as the goal, each trainee will transition to be able to live and work independently in the community.

During the 2006/2007 school year, 190 students successfully completed this program.
