Approve Addendum to Annual Contracts with the General Educational Development (GED) Testing Services of the American Council on Education for Two Additional Testing Sites - 2007 and 2008 (Adult and Community Education)

We request approval of the Addendum to the current General Educational Development (GED) Annual Contract to add two additional testing sites for the period July 1, 2007, through December 31, 2008, to provide the GED Testing Program in Hillsborough County to those adults who wish to establish the credentials of a high school diploma.

This addendum to these contracts authorizes our District to add additional testing sites at Falkenburg Academy, located at 9508 East Columbus Drive, Portable 7; and Riverside Academy, located at 4004 North Riverside Drive, Room 121 and authorization to transport GED Tests to these sites. All appropriate testing security measures are strictly enforced to ensure the integrity of testing administration so that the District may continue to serve Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) center students and adults through GED testing services. The locations are established to provide the most convenient and suitable test sites.

The GED Test will continue to be administered at the following locations: East Bay, Gaither, and Plant City High Schools; Bowers/Whitley, Simmons and South County Career Centers; Brewster and Learey Technical Centers; Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department (various jail sites); and the University of South Florida.

Applicants pay $17 for the Florida Department of Education fee and $28 for District expenses in administering the General Educational Development (GED) Test. These fees cover the direct and indirect expenses of administering the GED Test.
