EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This project was planned by the architectural firm of Ruyle and Masters + Jennewein Architects, P.A. On March 12, 2002, the Board appointed the construction management firm of Bovis Lend Lease. The scope of work includes the addition of a gymnasium, conversion of locker rooms in Building 5 into four classrooms, reflashing and reroofing of Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and the canopies east and west of Building 3, replacement of all windows in Buildings 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6, replacement of hot water heating with electric heating, and replacement of air conditioning units in Buildings 3, 4, 5 and 6. Renovation of Buildings 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 will include painting and replacement of floors, ceilings and lighting. Restrooms will be renovated to meet code requirements. New fire alarm, intercom, telephone, security and data network systems will be installed. In Building 4 corridor, the clerestory windows will be replaced with a one-hour rated infill, and modifications will be made to make the corridor walls on the second level of Building 3 one-hour rated to meet fire code. The wheel chair lift will be replaced with an elevator, and balcony handrails will be replaced on Building 3. Minor drainage issues will be corrected throughout the facility.
This change order provides credits for project savings, the return of unused contingency funds, and final reconcilation of the Direct Purchase and Owner Controlled Insurance Programs. It also provides for the remediation of exterior walkways and corridors in Building 3 to prevent rain water intrusion at doorways. A time extension is provided for the additional scope of work added in Change Orders 1 through 4 which included the removal and replacement of all exterior walls in Buildings 1 through 6.
