APPROVAL OF SCHEMATIC DESIGN PHASES

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This project is being planned by the architectural firm of Abell Garcia Architects, P.A. On January 13, 2004, the Board appointed the construction management firm of R.J. Bunbury Company, Inc. On December 14, 2004, the Board approved an increase in the project’s initial scope to include the replacement of the existing food service facility identified in the Kitchen Assessment 2004 report prepared by Hinson and Associates. The scope of work provides for the replacement of the existing food service facility with a multi-purpose building and the addition of a two-story building with 12 primary classrooms.

Approval of the schematic design phases will allow the architect to proceed with design development documents. Project completion is scheduled for the 2006–07 school year.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Construction budget for the Multi-Purpose Building is $1,463,702. The estimate of probable cost is $1,463,702. Construction budget for the Classrooms for Kids addition is $1,550,891. The estimate of probable cost is $1,550,891. This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: Capital Outlay & Debt Service, Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Construction and Classrooms for Kids.
