SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the Contract Amendment for Full Service Schools Between the School District of Hillsborough County and the State of Florida, Department of Health (Student Services & Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The contract amendment specifies a change in the dollar amount from the original contract approved by the School Board on June 7, 2005. The contract will be reduced by $54,358.00. The reason for the reduction was a cut back from federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds. The Full Service Schools' funds provide health and social services to designated schools in our district. This is an annual renewal for flow-through funds from the Hillsborough County Health Department. The money provides registered nurses and staff infrastructure for the full service centers at Just and Kimbell.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 – The district will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The new total for this contract is $440,189.00, which is a reduction of $54,358.00. The cut in the budget has resulted in shifting Full Service School costs for materials, contracted services and training to other grant funding sources. Funds are provided by the Legislature from general revenue and Temporary Assistance for Needy Family (TANF) federal dollars in a specific line item for Full Service Schools. This contract is subject to availability of funds.
