We request approval to submit a grant application to the FDOE for the IDEA, ARRA, for the Hillsborough County School District. This grant application has two sections: IDEA, Part B, ARRA - $44,805,774 and IDEA, Part B, Preschool, ARRA - $1,410,774. A summary of this grant proposal is attached. The purpose of the IDEA, Part B, and Preschool, ARRA grant is to provide the district a one-time opportunity to implement innovative strategies to improve teaching and learning outcomes for infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities while stimulating the economy.

We request approval to submit a grant application to the FDOE for IDEA funds for Hillsborough County School District. This grant application has two sections: IDEA, Part B - $38,227,839 and Preschool Children with Disabilities - $658,097. A summary of this grant proposal is attached.

The purpose of the IDEA, Part B grant is to ensure that all children with disabilities ages 3 through 21 have the right to a free appropriate public education (FAPE) designed to meet their individual needs and prepare them for employment and independent living. These funds will be used for the excess costs directly attributable to programs that provide FAPE to children with disabilities. Students with disabilities will be provided full educational opportunities through instructional activities designed to increase the level, intensity, and quality of services necessary for each individual student. Federal entitlement grants for IDEA must be submitted annually.

Performance evaluation measures are required as determined by the FDOE, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services.
