Approve Termination of Contract With Anderson Elementary Academy (Non-Traditional Programs - Division of Administration)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On July 15, 2008, the Hillsborough County School Board approved a five-year contract with Anderson Elementary Academy. The contract commenced on July 15, 2008, and will end on June 30, 2013. The school has been in operation since July 1, 2003.
Based on concerns the School District articulated in their 90-day letter dated April 17, 2009, the Anderson Elementary Academy Board met to discuss the future of the school. The Anderson Elementary Academy Board voted to close the school (surrender their charter) due to issues related to student achievement, fiscal insolvency, and ESE services. Attached is a letter from the board chair confirming this action.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Anderson Elementary Academy received approximately $610,653 through the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP) funding for the 2008/2009 school year. They also received $58,593 in capital outlay money.
EVALUATION
There will be no evaluation since the contract is being terminated.
