EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The NAEP is administered uniformly across the nation and provide a snap shot of student performance grouped by state overall and by demographic groups.
For the 2009 NAEP assessment in Florida, only Miami-Dade had been selected as a Trial Urban District and received district-level results. However, Hillsborough County has now been selected to participate in the Trial Urban District Assessment. Beginning with the 2011 NAEP assessment, the District will have district-level results reported. Since the District no longer uses a national norm-reference test across all grades, the NAEP results will allow district personnel to compare students in grades 4 and 8 to the nation in reading, math, and possibly science. The District will also be able to compare its results to other states and to 20 other large urban districts. The content areas measured by the NAEP assessment are included in the attached tables.
