Recognition of the Recipients of a Fellowship with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Elementary/Middle School Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Jonathan Gerlach, Elementary Science District Resource Teacher, and Corey Peloquin, Coleman Middle School Science Teacher, were two of 40 teachers in the nation to be awarded a fellowship with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The NASA Endeavor Science Teaching Certificate Project awards one-year fellowships each year. Funding authorization for the project is provided through the NASA Endeavor Teacher Fellowship Trust Fund as a tribute to the dedicated crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger.

The project is administered by U.S. Satellite Laboratory, Inc., in partnership with State Departments of Education. Endeavor Fellows take graduate courses in an innovative, live, online format from the comfort of their home or school. They learn to apply research-based pedagogical strategies and cutting-edge Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) content to the classroom contexts while becoming a part of a special network of like-minded educators across the nation.
