EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Nagashreyasu Chidarala and Elaine Hou, eighth grade students at Young Middle Magnet School, received the highest scores in the state for the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 8 Contest held November 17, 2009. Over 150,000 students from 2,372 schools across the world participated in the AMC 8 examination. One hundred sixty- two students received a perfect score of 25. The students from Young Middle Magent School were the only two students in the state of Florida to receive perfect socres.
The AMC 8 is a 25 question, 40-minute multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem solving skills. The examination provides an opportunity to apply the concepts taught at the middle school level to problems which not only range from easy to difficult but also cover a wide range of applications. Many problems are designed to challenge students and to offer problem solving experiences beyond those provided in most middle school mathematics classes.ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
