Approve Expenditure for Matching Funds Projects at
Lewis and Westchase Elementary Schools

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Matching Funds program was established in 2001-02 by the Superintendent to assist schools and their partners in raising funds for capital school improvements by matching dollars in any amount up to $50,000. On October 26, 2009, a committee composed of elementary, middle, and high school principals, and the Facilities Division, met to review and update the program procedures to be effective for the 2009-10 fiscal year. (Revised procedures are attached)

District Matching Funds are requested for the completion of the project budgets at Lewis Elementary School for landscaping the courtyard and lights for the covered court and Westchase Elementary School for copiers for the staff and front office.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Total project expenditures for each school are as follows: $13,000 ($6,500 District's contribution, $6,500 Lewis Elementary School's contribution), $12,018 ($5,953 District's contribution, $6,065 Westchase Elementary School's contribution). Expenditures are funded as follows: a minimum contribution of 50% of the project cost from the school and the balance from Millage Matching Funds, not to exceed $50,000.
