SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Renewal of Hold Harmless Agreements for Training Sites for Brewster Technical Center Adult Students with Disabilities, 2010/2011 (Adult Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of the renewal of the following Hold Harmless Agreements to provide job training sites for adults with disabilities students enrolled at Brewster Technical Center.

Brewster Technical Center provides educational services targeted to the assessed needs of adult trainees recommended by various agencies within the parameters of approved district curricula through adult individual education plans.

The utilization of nonschool site properties provides training opportunities for individuals with special needs. Collaboration by the district with these training partners includes annual evaluation of the programs toward ensuring that each trainee can live and work independently in the community. Training is provided in job readiness skills, employability skills, life skills, job preparation, on-the-job training, and hands-on applications.

During the 2009/2010 school year, 321 adult students with disabilities have been enrolled and have reached their benchmarks or are on target to complete their program by June 2010.
