Approve Modification Number 03 of Contract #498 with Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This contract with Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. provides child care and early education services for children of Hillsborough County participants enrolled in employment and training activities sponsored by the Workforce Investment Act. Modification Number 03 increases funding to provide additional child care services. The term of Contract #498 is August 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.

Modification Number 03 provides an additional $53,000 to the original contract funds of $42,000, increasing the total funds to $95,000 for the provision of early education and child care services for children of families eligible for Workforce Investment Act employment and training activities. The total amount includes $6,223 for indirect costs and office supplies and $88,777 for direct child care services. With the average cost of care at $3,666.66 per child for the 11-month period, approximately 24 children will receive services during the contract term.

EVALUATION

As stipulated in the contract, performance of services shall be subject to review and evaluation at the sole discretion of Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. The funding is provided through federal dollars. The flow-through dollars are channeled by Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. to the Hillsborough County Public Schools, School Readiness Programs to purchase child care services in Hillsborough County for children of eligible families participating in Workforce Investment Act employment and training activities. There is no district-generated revenue used for this purpose.
