Recognition of the 2009/2010 Recipients of the Promoting Regional Interest in Science and Math (PRISM) Regional Most Improved and Most Outstanding Scholar Program (Middle School Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The student scholar program was initiated by PRISM and the Central Florida Public Schools Board Coalition to increase student proficiency in higher-level science and mathematics curriculum and pursue more rigorous mathematics/science/technology courses while in middle and high school.

The PRISM Scholar Program involves the identification and selection of the most improved and most outstanding science and mathematics students each year. The Hillsborough District selected eight Regional PRISM scholars, two for each category. In addition, two of the 2007/2008 PRISM scholars and six of the 2008/2009 PRISM scholars continued to qualify, bringing the total to 16.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $500 are available in the divisional budget of Curriculum and Instruction, Middle School Education (Project 6163). Funds cover the cost of plaques for the PRISM Regional Scholars.
