This Memorandum of Agreement is in effect May 19, 2010 through May 18, 2011. The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida, and The Kids Healthcare Foundation have planned a pilot with the intent of increasing enrollment of the uninsured and under-insured children in Hillsborough County. Through this partnership, the families of identified children will be contacted by district staff members who have been trained to provide assistance with the Florida KidCare application process.

The total funding of $30,000 will be provided jointly by the district and The Foundation ($15,000 each) for salary and fringe benefits for the Outreach/Enrollment/Retention specialist selected by district staff. This staff member will serve in the Department of Student Support Services.

The number of completed and submitted KidCare applications will evaluate the pilot. The goal of this project is an arbitrary number of 2,000 KidCare applications during the period of this agreement without any penalty. The Management Team, which includes Dr. Steve Freedman, Executive Director of The Kids Healthcare Foundation; Dr. Ken Gaughan, Supervisor of School Social Work Services; and Dr. Maria Russ, Coordinator of School Health Services, will meet regularly to assess the pilot’s progress and make additional plans to meet this goal.
