EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Charter school legislation, 1002.33, F.S., permits individuals, organizations and community members the opportunity to submit an application to the School Board for the creation of a charter school. On December 8, 2009, the School Board approved the application for New Springs Schools. The school will serve students in grades 6-8 using a standard curriculum with an emphasis on math and science.
A copy of the proposed five year contract for the school is attached. The original charter application approved by the School Board will become Appendix I of this contract and will be available for review in the School Board Office. The school's academic goals and objectives are found in Appendix II.
In the event there is a discrepancy between the contract and the charter applications, the terms of the contract will prevail. New Springs Schools has agreed to all terms of the contract, which has been revised to include the most recent revisions to 1002.33, F.S.
A copy of the application review summary is attached indicating where weaknesses are addressed in the contract.
