SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Award of Contract for Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Renovation at
B.T. Washington Elementary School and Young Middle School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Mechanical Engineering Solutions, Inc. was selected from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design services. The scope of work includes the replacement of the existing chiller plant at B. T. Washington Elementary School with a new plant incorporating ice storage, and replacement of the HVAC systems in Buildings 3 and 7 at Young Middle School. The Board has previously approved the purchase of major equipment for the project.

The project was advertised and bids received (see attachment). Award of the contract as indicated on the attachment for the base bid and alternates to the lowest qualified bidder, Q & Q, Inc. is recommended.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Total funds in the amount of $422,700 are included in the District Capital Outlay: Local Millage. The contract amount being awarded is $418,450.
