SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The West Shore Elementary School faculty, staff and community members have requested that the Media Center at West Shore Elementary School be named the Harriet Foundas Media Center in honor of Ms. Foundas.
Ms. Foundas began her employment in 1966 as a teacher at Tinker Elementary School and retired from Hillsborough County Public Schools in June 2008, as principal of West Shore Elementary School. During her 42 years of employment, Ms. Foundas held the positions of teacher, ESEA Reading Teacher, Learning Specialist, Curriculum Specialist and Principal.
Ms. Foundas, throughout her 42 years career, promoted reading as a top priority and each year she encouraged students to read. She also secured funds from the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce and wrote and received grants to buy additional books for the Media Center. Ms. Foundas always reminded the children that reading would be the key to their success.
The faculty and community would like to celebrate Harriet Foundas’ tireless dedication to West Shore Elementary School with this honor.
