Approve Contract Addendum 2 with the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for Motorcycle Safety Training Program, 2010/2011 (Adult and Community Education)

We request approval of the contract Addendum 2 for motorcycle safety training programs offered by the district in collaboration with the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Addendum 2 extends the terms of the Motor Safety Training Program Agreement through June 30, 2011. This agreement was approved by the school board on May 19, 2009. The district has been providing the motorcycle safety training program since 1991.

Classes are offered at Armwood and Chamberlain high schools through the Adult and Community Education Department. The program has served approximately 10,556 students and offers two classes: Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic RiderCourse and Motorcycle Safety Foundation Experienced RiderCourse.

Classes are self-sustaining from fees paid by adult students that cover all direct and indirect expenses.
