Approve Agreements with K-12 Florida LLC and Florida Virtual School for the 2010/2011 School Year (Secondary Education)

We request approval of agreements between Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS), K-12 Florida LLC, and Florida Virtual School (FLVS) to provide elementary and high school virtual school programs to students in the HCPS system.

The district’s partnership with K-12 Florida LLC and FLVS has been of great benefit to our students. The district’s virtual school committee recommends to the Board that we maintain our proactive role as a leader of virtual education in the state of Florida by contracting with K-12 Florida LLC as an elementary virtual school provider and FLVS for grades 6-12 to serve the needs of students and parents for the 2010/2011 school year. The committee consisted of Denny Oest, General Director of Secondary Education; Josie Sanders, General Director of Middle School Education; Barbara Hancock, General Director of Elementary Education; and James Pirotta, Administrator of Hillsborough Virtual School).

All Strategic Objectives

Expenses are paid from the FTE generated by student completion.

Evaluation of the program will be based on the percent of students successfully promoted to the next grade.
