Approve 2010-2011 Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Maintenance Projects and Millage Projects

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The 2010 Legislature approved the General Appropriations Act that appropriated the 2010-11 funds to support Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) projects. Funds identified through this appropriation must be encumbered within 31 months.

Millage funds are received from local property tax assessments. Millage funds also provide payment for debt service, site purchases, and other obligations. The 2010-11 projects identified are the result of prioritizing recommendations from facility assessments, maintenance staff, area directors and individual schools.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The 2010-11 District Capital Outlay: PECO Maintenance Fund allocation is $8,656,632. The 2010-11 Local Millage Assessment available for projects after prior obligations is $31,744,335.
