SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Memorandum of Agreement with the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office, Inc. (DACCO) (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office, Inc. (DACCO) and the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida enter into this agreement to provide a program of substance abuse prevention services at select middle and high schools. The program is known as the New Directions Substance Abuse Prevention Program. This will be the 21st year that this service partnership exists with DACCO. Agency services will include group and individual counseling. The Supervisor of School Social Work Services and agency staff from DACCO will meet to implement these services at Greco, Jennings, and Shields Middle Schools and Armwood, Chamberlain, Hillsborough, and Lennard High Schools. Effective dates are August 31, 2010 through June 30, 2011.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The District provides office space at the assigned schools. Approximate in-kind support from the District for this space and custodial support is $30,000 per year.

EVALUATION

Program services are evaluated at least twice a year. The joint management team will review quarterly and annual outcome data on all clients served. Input will also be solicited from the administrators of the participating schools.
