Approve Memorandum of Agreement Between The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida and A Kid’s Place, Inc. (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

A Kid’s Place, Inc. (AKP) was established last school year in the Brandon area to serve children who have been sheltered by the local child welfare system. A ten-month elementary classroom teacher will serve this location to provide educational services. The classroom teacher will work cooperatively with AKP staff and agency partners to ensure appropriate transitions for these children that promote positive educational outcomes and safety. This agreement is in effect August 10, 2010 through June 30, 2011.

$67,380 - The District will be responsible for the salary and benefits for the assigned ten-month elementary classroom teacher and will provide educational materials. AKP will provide appropriate classroom space, school supplies, and the necessary support and information to provide educational services within this shelter program.

The Supervisor of School Social Work Services is the district’s representative on the multi-agency steering committee for the development of AKP. The classroom teacher assigned to AKP will be a member of the faculty of Brooker Elementary and will work under the supervision of that school’s principal. The Supervisor of School Social Work Services and the Brooker Elementary Principal will meet regularly to review student progress and plan educational services. AKP staff will be responsible for the evaluation of shelter services, which includes educational outcomes.
