SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the County Adoption of Recommended Titles as Flexibility Instructional Materials for Family and Consumer Sciences (Career and Technical Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval to adopt the instructional materials listed on the attached memorandum from Leanne Lester, District Resource Teacher for Family and Consumer Sciences, as flexibility materials for the Teacher Assistant and Culinary Arts programs. A district Instructional Materials Selection Committee evaluated and recommended these instructional materials in accordance with School Board Policies 2510 and 2520 and district administrative procedures which include the following:
- The selection committee shall follow the format, composition and criteria established by or compatible with those established by State Selection Committees.
- The selection committee is trained in the instructional materials evaluation process.
- The selection committee reviews and evaluates submissions using the Florida Department of Education instructional materials evaluation form.
- The selection committee through a consensus vote recommends instructional materials to be placed on the flexibility list.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
These items may be purchased using categorical textbook funds in the general operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction. The estimated cost is $43,878 for Teacher Assistant and $183,906 for Culinary Arts, for a total cost of $227,784.
